History Explosion! the Museum of Naval Firepower can provide a comprehensive range of research support, assisting in enquires by supplying information, images, reproductive images and text along with a whole host of other Services.
We accept enquiries from members of the public as well as private and public organisations. Enquiries can be made via Post or Email. Please do not attempt to visit the Museum in person with your enquiry.
Please note: The Museum has no paid staff employed to answer Curatorial or Technical enquiries. Enquiries of this nature are answered solely by a dedicated group of volunteers. The volunteers have limited time and answer enquiries in strict chronological order. It may take several weeks for them to answer you.
When making an enquiry try to give as much information as possible about the subject and also try and include more than one point of contact for yourself (i.e. phone number and postal address) as well as what organisation you represent, if any.
Please Note: We do NOT hold any naval service personnel records in our collection.
Charges:
All requests that require Museum staff to carry out research or to work on the enquirers behalf incur a charge. The first hour of each individual enquiry is FREE. Please see below a list of charges for subsequent time spent: -
• Enquiry taking under one hour to answer: FREE
• Enquiries of over one hour: £30 per hour
In addition to time charges there are also additional charges for other services offered by the Museum's Curatorial Staff these include reproductions and photocopies:

*For charitable and exceptional circumstances fees may be waived or renegotiated
We request that with all usage of photographs supplied by us we are credited as ‘The Museum of Naval Firepower’; Any acknowledgements as Museum of Naval Firepower, Priddy’s Hard, Gosport.
All charges are exclusive of VAT.
