Ceremonies & Civil Partnerships
Explosion Museum can provide you with a wonderfully unique venue for your special day. Our stunning 18th Century Grand Magazine, a Gunpowder store built in 1771, is the perfect setting for both your ceremony and reception. With a beautiful vaulted ceiling and Georgian wooden floor, it is the ideal space for you and your guests.
In addition, make use of our camber basin for reception drinks and photographs, with beautiful views of the waterfront across to Port Solent and the Naval Dockyard. Also, explore the museum galleries in the evening to learn just how special and important Priddy’s Hard was to those who lived and worked on the site.
Wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships can take place between 8.00am and 6.00pm and non-religious music of your choice can be played. Services are conducted by Registry Office officials, usually booked from the local Fareham office.
We are licensed to host Civil Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships.
Receptions can run until 23.30pm in the evening, allowing your guests to join the party. We can arrange the whole event for you or advise on a variety of services from catering to the master of ceremonies and musicians and entertainment.
Your guests can arrive up to an hour before the wedding and stay afterward to congratulate you both. The Museum can also help to arrange a Bucks Fizz or Champagne Reception within the Magazine. During this time the Museum galleries and grounds can be used for photography.
