Spirit of the 40s - Ticket on Sale NOW!!

Spirit of the 40s - 14th and 15th of April 2012.

This April, remember the ‘Spirit of the 1940s’ at Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower in Gosport. You can even save 10% in the process. The event this year is being held on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of April.

Tickets are on sale now, those who buy advance tickets for the daytime events and evening dance receive a 10% discount.

dscf2132The event this year should be bigger then ever! There will be many familiar faces and activities from last year as many of the same re-enactors are returning again this year. In addition, there will be an added extravaganza as we present a 'final battle' involving all re-enactors within the sites historic ramparts. The picture to the right shows the 101st American Airborne division rehearsing for the day at a recent get together!

Also confirmed this year are 'Hands on History' who will be providing lots of family activities including Paintball Firing from historic weapons and also a 'defusing the bomb' activity! Visit http://www.handsonhistory.co.uk/ for more information.

New Ramparts Tour Dates Announced!

A Tour of the Ramparts – with local historian Terry Hinkley. The first Saturday of every month throughout the main season.

 

Sat 7th April – 1pm, Sat 5th May – 1pm, Sat 2nd June – 1pm, Sat 7th July – 1pm, Sat 4th August – 1pm, Sat 1st September – 1pm and Sat 6th October – 1pm.

 

Join local Historian, Terry Hinkley, for a walk around the Historic Ramparts at Priddy’s Hard. The Ramparts are part of the early fortifications erected around the town, as an extension of the defences of Portsmouth Harbour. The ‘Gosport Lines’ as they became known, were surrounded by dry moat areas. The walks will include this early history and look at how this area later became an important part of the Priddy’s Hard Ordnance supply depot. NOT suitable for under 12’s, other children must be accompanied by an adult. Sensible footwear must be worn.

 

Times: 1pm (meet at Museum Coffee Shop). Places are £2 per person and must be booked in advance.
