Explosion! Volunteers

Explosion the Museum of Naval Firepower has limited staff and resources. The Museum relies heavily upon its dedicated group of volunteers to assist with the day to day running of the Museum.

The volunteers have offered their skills and services regularly for many years, the preservation and conservation of The Museum’s collections is a never-ending task.

Being a volunteer at the Museum of Naval Firepower opens up many interests and provides the opportunity for involvement in a variety of activities. At the current time, most of our volunteers assist with the management of the large collection at Priddy’s Hard.

This can include the following:

  • Curatorial Research.
  • Answering Technical and Historical enquiries
  • Cataloguing and Documentation
  • Restoration and Conservation of Museum Artefacts and Buildings

Volunteers can also become tour guides who assist the Museum by providing guided tours around the Museum Galleries and Reserve Collections.

Other volunteers help with mailshots, events and wardening the galleries when we are open to the public.

Please see the list below of current opportunities within the Museum for Volunteers.
